D & AD
The iconic D & AD pencil is still the most prestigious award among creative people in the advertising and design industry. This campaign was to reassert that and encourage entries. After settling on the central idea of 'But is it a Pencil?', Paul and his creative partner Brian Connolly produced rich content which would appeal to anyone with an interest in the creative process. They interviewed influential figures in the advertising and design world and then found young and exciting animators to give those interviews a visual perspective in a series of short films. They then applied 'But is it a Pencil?' to various categories of entries to give each one its own character and relevance.
